Beginning the New Year

Is this the year that birth in this country takes a turn towards evidence based practices?
Is this the year that when a woman begins her pregnancy, that she will be offered options, choices and information that will help her to make informed decisions?
Could this be the year that a woman’s voice is heard when she questions the necessity of a test, a procedure, a comment? That she will be given an answer that is honest, researched-based and patient?
Will facts take prominence over fear? Will morbidity of mothers and babies finally be discussed?
Is this the time when birth doulas will grow in numbers; walk the pathway with women; be greeted with respect; and work in conjunction with other birth professionals to help create safe and sacred environments for new life to emerge?
As a birth assistant, I know, these answers will be yes
And you?

Hello world!

Welcome to toLabor Tree House Blog!
After a long hot summer and early flu season our webmaster is telling us she is finally in the last stages of labor with our new toLabor Website. Light a candle for her as she and Therese birth this new and exciting baby. The new site not only has a link here to the tree house, it has a twitter bird, facebook page, online doula directory for the US and Canada, online registration for workshops, a lovely scholarship, and much, much more! We announce the new site as soon as it is up so stay tuned! In the mean time the current site is pretty cool too.
And excuse the stark furnishings here in the tree house we are just moving in.
